The sun was shining, a cool breeze kissed your
cheeks, excitement was in the air, girls with their mothers entered the
beautifully decorated Sea Room, dressed in their Sunday best, wearing
bright- colored spring hats. They sat at tables filled with a variety
of finger sandwiches and kabob deserts with soft music in the
background. What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon! That
was the scene at Disney's Vero Beach Resort on March 14th, 2009 @ 12
noon. Girls With A Future
mentoring program held their first social event introducing the
beginning of their journey to success. Professional, business &
community leaders and friends were invited for tea along with a slide
show and a fashion show. Dr. Jimita Jones,
from Orlando, was the guest speaker, who encouraged all the girls "to
have a plan to succeed, if option A fails, always have option B - but
NEVER let failure be an option." There was also a "pinning ceremony",
where each girl received her special "Necklace of Hope". Girls With A Future
is a girls' mentoring program designed to motivate, inspire and empower
females through weekly self-esteem building activities, mentoring,
academic enrichment opportunities. This unique and innovating mentoring
program provides a forum for females to succeed in many areas of life.
