Scholarship of Hope

The Dasie Bridgewater Scholarship of Hope was established to help the college bound students at the Center. The scholarship fund will continue to grow and aid future college bound students at Dasie Hope Center.

Since starting the Scholarship of Hope we have helped 14 pursue their college dreams. Many have graduated from college but all continue to stop by Dasie Hope and give back.

Graduates James McGriff and Christina Colon

Each graduate received a College Starter Pack equipped with a laptop, printer/scanner/copier combo, iron, ironing board, sheet sets, comforter, bedroom shoes, shower shoes, shower caddy, towels, washcloths, hangers, personal hygiene items, umbrellas and much more.

In 2008, James McGriff, Christina Colon and Atasha Warren attended classes during the summer session at the University of South Florida. All three students got off to a great start receiving all A's and B's and are looking for the same success as they begin their Fall semester.

All of this could not be possible without the inspiration of Jay and Maryellen Conefry who launched the idea and the dream of a scholarship fund for the children of Dasie Hope Center. Thanks to the Conefry's generosity and the support of our Orchid Island friends, the dream has become a reality.
